Excerpt
“The ultimate subject of theology, by definition, is God himself, in the sense that he is the reality about whom or in reference to whom all theological statements are made. But now the issue is this: is it really possible for us to have access to divine reality, in order that we may have true knowledge of him? How is it possible for us to make true statements about God, and about any part of creation in its relationship to God?
Here we come face to face with the whole problem of truth, since the possibility of theology presupposes the possibility of truth itself. Theology is nothing less than sound doctrine, i.e., true teaching about the works and nature of God and about the whole creation in its relation to him.” (p. 11)
