Dr. Bruce Shields and David Butzu explore the history of worship from ancient Israel to the present in a way that is understandable and helpful to people who plan and lead worship in all sorts of churches and those who are active in church worship ministries. As Christians we hope that present believers, as well as future generations, will have a deeper understand of God and experience an unhindered worship of our Creator. Generations of Praise explains how worship has evolved over the centuries in various cultures to help us develop services of worship suitable for congregations of the twenty-first century. Bruce E. Shields has served since 1983 as the Professor of Christian Ministries at Emmanuel School of Religion in Johnson, TN. He received his B.A. from Milligan College, the B.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and the Dr.Theol. from the University of Tubingen. He has been published in several journal articles and numerous books.
David A. Butzu serves as the Worship Minister at Hopwood Memorial Christian Church, Milligan College, TN and is a part-time instructor at Milligan College and Emmanuel School of Religion. He received the B.Mus. from the University of Michigan, the M.Div. from Emmanuel School of Religion, and has finished postgraduate coursework in Historical Theology from the Catholic University of America.
